WHY LIVE HERE

Convenience to work and shopping, close to downtown, historic architecture

Named for the circa 1833 historic house museum located in the heart of the neighborhood, Oakleigh is Mobile shorthand for the Oakleigh Garden Historic District. The Oakleigh neighborhood appeals to those with a love for well-preserved historic homes, casual porch sitting, as well as great proximity to Downtown, Midtown and all that Mobile has to offer. When it comes to dining, though, there is no need to leave the neighborhood.

Oakleigh offers a variety of dining options, from Callaghan’s Irish Social Club (home of the well-known and well-attended St. Patrick’s Day Street Party), to Aroy Thai Cuisine, The Hummingbird Way, and Saucy-Q Bar B Que. At the heart of Oakleigh is Washington Square, a green space that frequently becomes the site of special events and casual play.

There’s so much walkability to all kinds of conveniences that I love.
