SPRING HILL

WHY LIVE HERE

Proximity to college/medical center, excellent shopping, convenient commutes to either Downtown or West Mobile

Spring Hill’s roots trace back to the early 19th century, when Mobile families flocked there to escape the sweltering summer heat of the city. Two centuries later, this picturesque suburb seven miles west of downtown has blossomed into one of the city’s more desirable residential communities. Anchoring the area is Spring Hill College, the oldest institution of higher education in the state and one of the oldest Jesuit colleges in the country. Fanning outward from the college are a variety of restaurants and cafes—including local gems like Carpe Diem Coffee Company, Brick Pit Barbecue, Cortlandt’s Pub and Pollman’s Bake Shop—as well as numerous retail shops, malls and high-end clothiers. Sidewalks and roads teem with cyclists, walkers and joggers, giving the area a warm and friendly community feel, and, with the recent addition of the Old Shell Trolley Club, residents can also enjoy safe and easy transportation to all that Downtown Mobile has to offer. The avid golfer will delight in the array of greens available for the playing; you can tee up at at Spring Hill College or the Azalea City public course. Langan Park’s walking paths and lake provide a beautiful setting for the expansive Mobile Museum of Art, the largest art museum along the Gulf Coast between Tampa and New Orleans. Homes range from antebellum mansions to bungalows of the ‘20s and ‘30s and mid-century ranches, with new construction scattered throughout. Spring Hill is a perfect blend of classic upscale elegance and southern comfort.
